North Dakota, Take Two

Well we’re finally back from our trip to North Dakota. If you recall, we went on a hunting trip there last year for our honeymoon and returned this year for another hunting trip, just slightly different.

This year we had a friend tag along and we went for duck instead of geese. It is so crazy how you spend all this time planning an upcoming trip/event and it seems to be over in a blink of an eye. We were there for 10 days and came out with a total of 32 ducks. Not the number we were hoping for but can’t complain.

Hunting was a little tough again this year because there are a lot more hunters going to the area we do making the ducks more spread out and harder to find. We definitely spent a lot of time scouting.

We stay in a town that is less than one square mile and with a population of about 500 people. It is so nice to get out of the city and into a small town in the country. It is quiet, everyone is friendly, and the scenery is incredible. The sunrises and sunsets we saw were breathtaking and I love driving around and seeing nothing but farmland for as far as you can see. Driving on the gravel roads is a whole new dimension and oftentimes their gravel roads are nicer than our city streets. The amount of stars you can see at night is amazing — although I am bummed that this is year two now of not seeing the Northern Lights. I’m sure it’ll happen some year though.

Hunting is a true passion of mine. The peacefulness of being outdoors mixed with the adrenaline rush you get is indescribable and unless you’re a hunter yourself, you won’t understand. Not to mention, we get to fill up our freezer with delicious meat!

Although I love taking trips and traveling, it is always nice to come home to some familiarity and comfort. We got home about 3:30am on Sunday. We slept until early afternoon then I got up and ran some errands. I made homemade chili (yum!) and we just relaxed the rest of the night.

Today is back to the grind and I feel somewhat refreshed after a week off of work. (Still exhausted from being up before sunrise and getting to bed late every day, in addition to being in the fresh air for the entire day and carrying around all our hunting equipment!) Hoping it doesn’t take long to get back into the swing of things, get caught up on sleep and back to my regular #PinkOutWithKate posts on Instagram!

Hope you all had an amazing weekend, and take on Monday like you own it girlfran!
