I’ve been talking about doing a gallery wall for quite some time and even have it on my 50 in 555 list that you can find here! But it wasn’t until I received my 2 pieces of string art from Rikki at Love Art Soul that I was really motivated to take on this goal! (Psssst…you can still use the code LOVEHANDMADE to get 15% off anything in her Etsy shop until March 5th!)
Let me backtrack a little bit. If you didn’t know or don’t remember from some of my very first posts, Chadd & I live in a very tiny studio apartment. If you’re not familiar with what a studio apartment is…it’s is a small apartment which combines the living room, bedroom, and kitchenette into a single room. We luckily have a walk in closet and of course the bathroom is separate. But with such a tiny space, we’re very limited on wall space to hang things. Especially since we’re lucky enough to have one wall be gorgeous brick but aka a pain in the ass to hang anything on!
Anyways…our main wall that our bed and couches face, we have a large clock in the middle and our TV on a TV stand directly below that. Previously I had just a few random picture frames and a couple wall sconces hanging up on each side of the clock but nothing fancy. It worked for the mean time but I knew I wanted more. (Please ignore the fact that it’s March and we STILL have our Christmas garland up….)
I’ve totally been obsessing with the gallery walls I’ve been seeing all over Pinterest & Instagram and that’s where I got most of my inspiration from. I had some gift cards left over from Christmas for TJ Maxx and I somehow convinced Chadd to help me hang stuff AND go to TJ Maxx & Hobby Lobby with me to browse the home sections. That’s a miracle I tell ya and he was a trooper! It brought back a lot of memories of when we were picking out things for the apartment when we first moved in together – it was fun!
Here’s what we ended up coming out with…
– Happily Ever After sign ($4 – TJ Maxx)
– White frames – small & large ($17 total – TJ Maxx)
– Grey frame ($5 on clearance because glass was missing – TJ Maxx)
-White Mirror – need to spray paint…any color ideas?! ($9 – TJ Maxx)
– 2 Arrows ($16 total – Hobby Lobby)
And I already had the rest of it! So for $51 dollars I got everything I need and after gift cards, I only had to pay the $16 out of pocket for the arrows from Hobby Lobby! HOLLA!
So what I did was lay out two different sections – right side & left side of the TV. I laid it out on the floor and rearranged until I liked how it looked and flowed together. I was surprised that it didn’t take me as long as I thought it would – as I can be pretty picky about these things. I’ve seen other people cut out sheets of paper in the same shapes as the items to hang and put it on the wall and rearrange that way but I truthfully don’t have the patience for it and just eyeballed it from the floor. I warned Chadd that if I didn’t like it after he hung it up he may be changing it….he lucked out and I’m pretty happy with it!
So unfortunately the lighting in our apartment is crap so please forgive me for the not-so-great quality photos. Also just pretend that gun safe isn’t there, and all the other random shit on each side of the TV…I have some rearranging to do! Overall I’m pretty happy. I still want to move the skull/antlers down and to the right a bit and the white frame (to the left of the TV) over slightly to the left some more. But I was too excited to share with you guys and didn’t want you to miss out on your chance to purchase from Love Art Soul using the coupon code!
If you’re wondering where any of the other items are from or would like to see more close up photos, please leave a comment and I’d be happy to share that with you!
